"I wrote "Flower Pots" about dissociation and depression, and more specifically, the overwhelming helplessness that emerges when solutions proposed by well meaning loved ones and professionals fall short (walking around the block, psychiatric medication, or old adages like “keep your chin up”). I love how playful Jason Vance Harris’ production choices are, from dancing keys to anthemic horns, imbuing hope and joy into a song about deep, unshakable sadness - which is often how life feels for me."
