Have you ever kissed someone you love while having a panic attack? There’s an inexplicable chemical reaction that occurs in your brain where that kiss becomes a sedative, completely nullifying your horrific mental pinball game of epinephrine and cortisol. Making out while in fight-or-flight is “the lover’s speedball”. In an effort to join the echelon of great, epic hospital ballads (“Comfortably Numb”, “Chasing Cars”) and perhaps be considered for a sync placement on season 74 of Grey’s Anatomy (fingers crossed), we decided to write this song, Florence Nightingale, about that very phenomenon.
