Down to You is the 4th track on Marianas Trench’s album “Haven” and 4th plot point – “Meeting with the Mentor”: The hero encounters a wise figure who provides guidance, advice, or magical gifts to help them on their journey.
"Again, trying to figure out where in my life I could pull from was difficult," Ramsay says. "But the title, that lyric, 'Down To You,' it's the kind of thing you want to hear a mentor say, like, ‘Everything comes down to you – you’ve got to do this.”
With its complex symphonic introduction and staccato guitars, 'Down To You' displays the scope of Ramsay’s vision sonically, but the impact doesn't just come from the notes played, but from the space between them and from Ramsay’s deft ability to seamlessly wed powerful rock and pop elements to soaring symphonic textures.
