Can We Take The Night Off? is an upbeat indie-pop track with a dark side. It was written with fellow Canadian collaborators Quin Kiu and Matt Kahane at an Airbnb in Glendale, California, and captures some of Michaela's hang-ups about getting older: there's just not enough time to do everything you want to.

Michaela was away on a writing trip, missing her partner and friends and left wanting more after hurried FaceTime check-ins, wondering if the rest of their modern lives were destined to feel so rushed and chaotic. JUNO-winning producer Ryan Stewart (Carly Rae Jepsen) elevated the demo to its current form, with a particular emphasis on blending both organic and programmed drum sounds.
